The "Church" is more than a Noun!
Jesus told us, that His church would be defined by its Action! (Verb) "You will be my witnesses". It is a vessel (Noun) and He describes the church as His Bride. (Adjective) One of the most important values of New Life Fellowship is our mission beyond our "backyard," which Jesus calls Jerusalem. It begins in our own community, and spreads into the county, across the Ohio River, throughout the United States, and overseas to every nation. New Life members are involved in a variety of ministries including: picking up trash (Adopt-A-Highway); volunteering at the local food pantry; character education in the schools; "rubbing elbows" in local parades and celebrations; as well as supporting orphans and feeding programs in Ghana, and Tanzania.
Where Can I Serve?
Integrity is central to every dimension of New Life Fellowship. We believe that each person is blessed with a gift from God for the purpose of serving through the local church. We will consider people on an individual basis who desire to become involved in the various aspects of New Life. We subscribe to the principle from the Bible that "when you are faithful with little you will have earned a shot at much more" and also that we should never despise the simplest of beginnings! We will help you to grow spiritually and to become a confident part of the churches mission.
Being then Doing
We have found the key to abundant life and we can't wait to share the story of our transformed lives with everyone! We bring hope and truth to people in our workplaces, schools, nursing homes, and hospitals. We host special events, children's programs, and show God's love by meeting people where they are. The idea is simple "actions speak louder than words!" You can be a witness for God and testify of His faithfulness! Check out the Calendar for current opportunities and training.
Music & Drama
We are blessed with a great worship team who use their talent and skill to inspire God-honoring worship. Folks at New Life play musical instruments, are vocalists, and some are involved with drama or using their skill to sign the worship songs. We also have great opportunities with audio, video, and graphic arts or digital presentations. (see below)
Greeters, Hosts, Ushers & Security
The "Friendship Team" at New Life fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, helping visitors, answering questions, and providing direction. Our team serve by ensuring the safety of the building during services: locking and unlocking doors; and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. Our "Friendship Team" have a heart to serve those who come to New Life to experience God. You can become part of this special group of men and women whose help is integral to church life.
Media & Technology
Using media to express the good news about God is at the heart of our services at New Life Fellowship. We utilize the widespread technology available to us to present the timeless message of the Bible in a dynamic and powerful display of truth and to cultivate a variety of learning forms. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in an audio format called a "podcast". We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed and participate in our very own "CITY" - which is Facebook for the church - for additional church communication and Pastor Joel will introduce his personal blog in January 2012!
Marriage Counseling
Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Several couples at New Life Fellowship serve other families as marriage coaches. Their role in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples has, by God’s grace, saved marriages, and repaired relationships. Couples have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship with their spouse. We really do believe in bearing each others burdens!
Prayer Warriors
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (The Message)
3 The world is unprincipled. It's dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn't fight fair. But we don't live or fight our battles that way — never have and never will. 4 The tools of our trade aren't for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. 5 We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God and changes us. New Life is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, before the service we gather for prayer in the sanctuary and during the morning service people are praying for the power of God to change lives. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Warrior team, pray for the church, our church members, any special requests, and prayer needs or concerns around the world. Each Wednesday when scheduled, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Life Application Bible Study.
Nursery
Our heart for the family begins in the Nursery! We provide both paid staff as well as moms, dads, grandmas, and teen helpers on Sunday mornings who have passed vigorous background screening. We want parents to enjoy the service and to be able to worship God without distraction or concern for the children. Nursery is available for infants to age 3 throughout the service. There are plenty of toys for the kids and rockers for the moms! We have clean safe cribs, an adjacent bathroom with a changing table, and all necessary sanitary supplies. It is located at the end of the foyer right next to the sanctuary. We have an active paging system and computerized registration to give parents that added peace of mind! Nursing Mothers are always welcome in the nursery and we have a secluded area for added privacy.
Children’s Church
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, New Life holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity--ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.
L.I.F.E. Groups
Love, Inspire, Fellowship, Engage
A L.I.F.E. group is a great way to meet the people of New Life and to share lives. We meet weekly at a designated home for 60 to 90 minutes. We talk about our lives, express our hearts and concerns, explore what the Bible says about various topics, and enjoy growing in God! Here are some of the groups currently meeting:
